It has been a while since my last post, so I thought I’d share a quick word of encouragement for the New Year…
How To Make 2015 More Successful Than 2014
For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
Was your 2014 successful?
We measure success in different ways. Some may look at their goals and may determine how ‘good’ the year was by how many boxes they were able to tick off their list.
Some will look at their bank balance and savings account, basing success on how much money they accumulated.
Some will look at their car, their house or their marital status.
These are all good things, and yet we are taught not to preoccupy our minds with these things. Neither should we measure success by material, temporal things such as our employment status or our possessions.
As we say goodbye to 2014 and enter 2015, we each reflect on the year behind us and say THANK YOU to God for a year well lived.
There were highs, there were lows, but by the mere fact that we are still breathing, it HAS been successful.
Let us appreciate the success of life itself and let us seek to live 2015 more successfully.
I wonder what would happen if we measured our success in 2015 by how effective we are as Christians?
Would we still be too tired to study the bible and pray?
Would we still be too busy to share our faith with others?
Would we still ignore those in our vicinity who are unsaved?
Would we still excuse our outbursts of anger, jealousy and bad thoughts?
I don’t think so.
I think we would stand to grow in our understanding of the Word.
I think we would find ourselves praying to God out of a relationship, not for reward.
I think we would be surprised by the simplicity of sharing the Gospel and amazed by how the Holy Spirit will use us IF we make ourselves available to Him.
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. – Matt 6:33
The greatest gift God ever gave us was salvation through Jesus Christ. So what would happen if we made everyday in 2015 about His Kingdom?
We could see 365 souls saved from Hell and brought into Heaven.
We could see thousands of Gospel seeds sown.
Whatever the case is, nothing will be wasted.
We must understand that not all of us are called to be Evangelists, but we are all called to be witnesses.
God doesn’t expect us to do the most, but He does expect us to do something. If the least thing we can do for Jesus is tell someone else about Him, I think that’s a pretty good deal. Besides, what’s the worst that can happen? The person we speak to says no? And what’s the best that can happen? The person we speak to says yes to Christ.
As I said, I think it’s a pretty good deal and I thank God that we each have the opportunity to make it…
Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth. -Luke 15:10
