The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master’s crib: but Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider.
-Isaiah 1:3
I am currently reading Isaiah and have been really encouraged by the few chapters I have read so far.
In this verse, we are shown that animals are aware of their owners, but humans tend to forget.
What is it about human intelligence that makes us unable to recognise our Master?
Perhaps our pride, because we think that we are in charge of our lives and do not believe anyone else to be more in control of our lives than we are.
It’s funny because having a Master in Heaven is actually a source of peace. Knowing that someone else is clued up (even when I don’t have the foggiest) is so reassuring.
Just think about how many days of anxiety we could saved ourselves? How many nights of rest we could have enjoyed?
Personally, I feel like I spent too much time in 2015 feeling anxious about things that I now realise I had no control over to begin with.
Let’s not repeat the same mistakes this year.
Know your Maker.
Know your Master.
Be cool.
