And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him.
Often we find it hard to marry God’s characteristics. Here is The One who is full of lovingkindness and yet is an all consuming fire. How does that work?
We need to remember that God is overflowing with mercy and grace for us, but that He is also a God of Judgment.
The reality is that we will all come before Christ and He will render to each of us – Believers and Sinners alike – according to our works. Each of us will have to give an account to God for our words and deeds on Earth, but most importantly we will have to explain what we did with the message we heard about Jesus Christ.
Let us never forget how patient our Father is, but let us also remember that judgment is around the corner – and there is no excuse great enough for God to listen to.
