Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
-Hebrews 12:1
I thought I would deviate a little and touch on this verse from Hebrews and the sin that besets.
I remember before I became a Christian, I had a really bad mouth.
Some of things that could out of my mouth really beggared belief! I swore, I gossiped and I made a habit of attacking people with my tongue. It was filthy, and when I eventually decided to become a Christian and live a life that glorified Him, it was a challenge.
Because it meant no more swearing, gossiping or slander. Even today, my mouth can still get me in trouble if I am not careful, so I constantly have to check myself and ensure that I do not let my flesh take over.
We should all look at our lives and watch out for that particular sin. Whatever it is, let us deal with it and ask God for forgiveness. If we can do that, we can overcome it.
