For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.
-Isaiah 50:7
I love the image Isaiah sets in the 50th chapter of his eponymous book.
If we remember that flint is a hard and sharp stone, we imagine a man being adamant about his beliefs and solid in his convictions.
For Isaiah, this meant standing strong despite detractors.
For Christ, this meant walking determinedly to the cross.
For us, this means resolving to be unashamed of our faith.
