Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.
-Psalms 20:7
Did anyone else wake up this morning feeling slightly perturbed? Yesterday everything was fine and all was well in the world. But today, I woke up with slight trepidation. What if Trump wins?
And lo and behold, Donald J Trump has won the presidency. Who woulda thunk it??
But before millions of hearts around the world begin to sink, and the world falls into a Post-Brexit style depression, can we just take a minute?
I was reminded of Psalms 20 this morning whilst I was praying:
Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.
Sometimes life takes us by surprise. We expect the normal/regular/standard, and are thrown by the unexpected outcome. We suffer all manner of disappointments, and unfortunately, as this year may have demonstrated, there does not seem to be any respite to this whilst we are on Earth.
Well life doesn’t take God by surprise. And this morning, whilst Trump wins plaudits from critics and pundits debate how he managed one of the greatest upsets in political history, let’s not be moved.
Yes, it may be a shocking result.
Yes, it may mean future uncertainty.
But nothing has changed and as Believers, we know that God remains in control.
Who, and in Whom do we trust? If it is Him, then let’s act like it. Let’s not fall into despair or become despondent – the world is pretty good at that already and has us beat on that front…!
Let’s remain prayerful, not just for the USA, but the world. Our prayer now is a simple one – that God’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Whatever the day may bring, remember God and do not fear.
