The Chronicles of Bae – Marry Right

Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

1 Thessalonians 5:21

You want to marry right.

You don’t just want to be entertained?

You don’t just want to be perpetually dating.

You don’t just want fine wine and fine dining. And dining. And dining. And dining. Shall I continue?

You want to marry right?

You don’t just want to marry a face. Or a body. Or a meal. Or a job. Or a house.

You don’t just want to marry a face. Or a body. Or a car. Or a paycheck. Or a bible.

You don’t just want to marry yourself? Or do you?

You want to marry right?

You don’t just want to marry your ex-boyfriend’s lesser half, with all the linked risks, aka Near Perfect Bae

You don’t just want to marry your ex-girlfriends’ new model, with all the associated bugs, aka New Bae 2.0.

You want to marry right.

Readers, what are you looking for?

In your husband?

In your wife?

Because the question I want you to think about this week is this:

What Do You Want?

This question has been the bane of my dating history, because I have not known the answer, and that ignorance fed into my misunderstanding, my manipulation and my mistreatment of the Baes.

Oh yes, I said it.

My God am I sorry for all the people I hurt.

My God am I sorry for all the hearts I affected.

So ladies and gents, I ask the question again:

What do you want?

Because if the person you are currently dating is not that, leave them alone.

Perhaps the good that we can be tonight is to be honest.

If you ain’t interested in the brutha, leave him alone. If you ain’t feeling that Sis, leave her be sha.

It’s actually not worth it. We five months into 2019 – ain’t nobody got time for time-wasting and broken hearts. Nah boo.

We have had a few posts about dating with intention and today I want to just encourage you to really be intentional as you work out your single season with fear and trembling.

Today’s blog is a short one, but it is really just a chance to reflect. I mean, you want to marry…..right??

Until next time…
