God Is Bigger Than The Box In Your Mind

Hey Everyone,

I know I haven’t posted in a while, but I just wanted to say that I am really grateful for all the love and support I have had with my blog over the past year. I think I mentioned a few times in previous posts how difficult 2017 was for me, but to the glory of God, I am still standing.

I am committed to doing more in 2018, so I am going to start with today. I’ve decided to write a series titled ‘God Is…‘, which I pray will bless and encourage you to see Him for the multifaceted wonder He is and to seek Him, honor Him and love Him.

For today, I have been reading Judges recently, and wanted to share this little tidbit with you:

Then Manoah intreated the Lord, and said, O my Lord, let the man of God which thou didst send come again unto us, and teach us what we shall do unto the child that shall be born.

And God hearkened to the voice of Manoah; and the angel of God came again unto the woman as she sat in the field: but Manoah her husband was not with her.

10 And the woman made haste, and ran, and shewed her husband, and said unto him, Behold, the man hath appeared unto me, that came unto me the other day.

11 And Manoah arose, and went after his wife, and came to the man, and said unto him, Art thou the man that spakest unto the woman? And he said, I am.

12 And Manoah said, Now let thy words come to pass. How shall we order the child, and how shall we do unto him?

Judges 13:8-12

One of the things the Bible lets us know as Believers is that God is bigger than the boxes of our imagination. Sometimes, God shows us great, great things too awesome to imagine, hope or believe, and that does not fit into our boxed minds. Sometimes it frightens us, and we often are stunned into a state of disbelief, so much so that we ask God to repeat Himself or to repeat an action.

And as gracious as He is, He actually does.

I have that sometimes.

You know when you have been praying for something (or someone) and God does it, I can be so surprised, I feel like its unreal. But I’ve learnt to trust God, in spite of my own shaky faith. Thankfully He is not as big as my imagination – He’s BIGGER.

The world wants a God that they can fit into a little box and compartmentalise in ways to suit them.

Little boxes that can be sold online and found in stores.

Little boxes that can be sold to anyone at anytime.

Little boxes that suit every lifestyle and personality.

But Christians know better.

We know that God cannot be molded to suit our minds.

When God said through the Prophet Malachi in Malachi 3:6: “For I am the LORD, I change not”, He meant it.

So my prayer is that we will grow wherever our faith is shaky, and that we will listen to Him the first time He calls, speaks and directs, because if He promised it, He surely will do it.

Take God out of the box of your mind and trust Him.
